Blaming “deficiency” in design and material for the July 12 mishap which claimed six lives at a construction site near Zamrudpur, Delhi Metro cracked down on the contractor, two design consultant companies and a few engineers for not doing their job properly.
At a press conference on Tuesday, DMRC managing director E Sreedharan said a four-member inquiry committee found that the cantilever design “had not adequately taken care of various forces”.
Sreedharan said a show-cause notice was being served on contractor Gammon India, which was carrying out the work at Zamrudpur accident site, on why it should not be blacklisted for two years.
DMRC also blacklisted Arch Consultancy Services, independent design consultants, for five years for submitting faulty designs.
Tandon Construction, independent structural consultants, were blacklisted for two years.
DMRC also issued a “major penalty chargesheet” to chief engineer (design) RK Kataria and suspended a deputy chief engineer (design) along with a deputy project manager.
