Two maids have been booked for allegedly stealing Rs 5 lakh from their employer's house in Sector 36.

Atul Tyagi had lodged a complaint against his maids Sushila and Lalita. While one maid was involved in sweeping the house on part-time basis, the other one cooked for the family.

He alleged that the maids stole the money by making the duplicate keys of the locker.

Both the maids had gained the confidence of the family members. Tyagi said he would have never thought that the two would steal money from them.

Deputy Superintendent of Police R.N. Mishra said, “Atul Tyagi complained that since last one week both the maids had stopped coming to work. He thought they were ill. Last night when Tyagi required some cash and opened the locker, he was stunned to see that Rs 5 lakh was missing.”

The police have begun a manhunt to trace the two maids but they were untraceable till this evening.
