Delhiites woke up to a misty morning on Monday but the mercury remained on the pleasant side with the weatherman saying that it would take some more days for the winter chill to set in.
The minimum temperature was 16.2 degree Celsius, slightly down from yesterday's 16.8 degrees but normal for this time of the year, while the maximum was at 29.2 degrees Celsius as against yesterday's 29.3 degrees.
The maximum was one degree above normal.
The weather department predicted mist or shallow fog in the morning on Tuesday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 29 and 16 degrees Celsius respectively, it said.
A senior Meteorological Department official said the nip in air is basically due to the withdrawal of monsoon.
"This period is referred to as post-monsoon period and it witnesses a gradual decline in temperatures," he said, adding one has to wait for some more days for the onset of winter.
