Mizoram has been given Rs 193.9 million by the rural development ministry for development of rural roads.
This is the balance payment of a second installment of Phase-IV as grants-in-aid to the Mizoram Rural Roads Development Agency (MRRDA), Aizawl, says a ministry release.

MRRDA is the autonomous agency for receiving funds under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which was launched in December 2000 as a 100 per cent centrally sponsored scheme.

The aim of this scheme is to link through good all-weather roads every habitation with a population of more than 1,000 within the next three years and every habitation with a population of more than 500 by the end of 10th five year plan.
