A mock fire-fighting drill was held at the Commonwealth Games secretariat in New Delhi on Tuesday, dealing with aspects such as rescue operation and dousing flames by use of automatic sprinkler system.
Employees of the fire department of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) took part in the exercise, held as part of 'Fire Week', the NDMC said.
The mock exercise dealt with rescue operations, carried in high-rise buildings, extinguishing fire through the automatic sprinkler system, Carbon dioxide (CO2) flooding system and dry chemical flooding system.
NDMC Chairperson Parimal Rai, National Civil Defence College Director G K Saini and Delhi Fire Service chief S K Sharma were present.
Rai said citizens should have basic fire-fighting knowledge to help minimise casualties in mishaps.
