What’s been your biggest achievement in the last one-year?
Dr Grover: We have reined in corruption. The money saved has been used to add ICU beds and upgrade libraries, where over 1,500 international journals can now be accessed.
So you admit there was corruption?
Dr Grover: Some corruption is there in all set-ups, especially in ones with no head. IHBAS has been without a regular director since 2007.
Is IHBAS getting NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) accreditation?
Dr Desai: A preliminary inspection was done last year and the process is underway. We expect that it will be completed soon.
Are you happy with the services offered?
Dr Desai: Yes. But we are equally focused on community outreach services, as it is the need of the hour
What are its strengths?
Dr Desai: Comprehensive bio-psycho-social approach to mental treatment is our strength. The integration of the three fields into treatment help our patients heal fast.
What is on the cards next?
Dr Grover: We plan to introduce two new courses:– MPhil. Psychiatric Social Work and Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and increase seats in many courses.
