It was another cool, breezy day for Delhiites as heavy rain lashed the city on Saturday morning, following Friday’s downpour.
But the rain also brought with it the usual problems — waterlogging, traffic jams and even a few deaths. Two persons died of electrocution after coming into contact with open wires in North Delhi’s Sadar Bazar and West Delhi’s Deepali Chowk while three persons died in wall collapses at Sangam Vihar in the south and Aman Vihar in the west.
Being Saturday, traffic was comparatively lean but waterlogging and jams made commuting hard. Despite claims by civic agencies of having cleaned storm water drains, 41 complaints of waterlogging were received.
Saturday morning recorded 25mm of rainfall, but the rain petered off and there was just 0.3mm between 8.30am and 8.30pm. Heavy rain is forecast for Sunday and the days ahead.
