A 26-year-old woman allegedly poisoned three of her children to death before committing suicide in Santnagar area of Faridabad on Tuesday.

The bodies were recovered by the police on Wednesday and sent for post-mortem examination to BK Hospital.

Police said they received information early on Wednesday that a woman and three of her children were found motionless inside a house under Sector 16 Police chowki.

Officers from Central police station and Sector 16 chowki rushed to the spot and found all the four lying dead.

The cops later searched the house and recovered samples of the poison that was administered. The deceased were identified as Anu, 26 and her three daughters Kusumlata, 6, Jyoti, 4, and one-and-a half-year-old Vineeta.

Police said Anu had lost her husband Sanjay, the only bread winner of the family, six months ago. She had apparently slipped into a depression after her husband’s death.

“We believe that the family was also facing some financial problems,” a police officer investigating the case said.

He added that they will look into all angles of the case and were waiting to receive the post-mortem report.
