'This MLA works 18 hrs a day'
Profession: Sodi is a full-time politician and a social worker.
Education: He has just completed his primary education.
Political career: In 1983, Sodi contested his first election for the municipal corporation and lost. “For the next 10 years, I worked really hard. I went to every house and build relationships. My hard work paid. I won the 1993 assembly election,” he said. Sodi was re-elected in 2003. “I work 18 hours a day. I eat with the people of my constituency, work with them and try and find a solution to their problems,” said Sodi.
Family: Wife Premlata helps Sodi in his work. “She is my biggest support,” he said. They have four sons and three daughters. The BJP had offered a ticket to Sodi’s son in the corporation elections last year but Sodi “humbly refused.”
Cars: “I recently bought a Maruti Zen on instalments. I have always covered my constituency on foot and go to assembly on a scooter. I have now sold off the scooter,” said Sodi.
