Money can buy you a super luxury speed monster but can’t teach you how to handle it on road. Unlike abroad, where the buyers are given practical lessons to handle such super luxury high-speed sophisticated machines, the concept is missing in India.
“This is the question which is in the air at the moment. Except Mercedes and Ferrari, which are setting up special academies for luxury car-owners at Buddha Circuit, no other company has come forward. Unless you get the actual feel of driving a luxury sports car, you cannot respect speed and appreciate the hazards handling fast cars,” automobile expert Tutu Dhawan said.
Though some companies have started organising special training by professional instructors on how to drive high speed cars, those are annual events rather than regular features.

With heterogeneous traffic that Delhi has and the chances of a stray vehicle or animal suddenly appearing in the middle of the road is very high, experts believe it is pertinent for a driver to have the capability to control the vehicle at high speed.
“The data suggests that 20 per cent of motorists killed in car accidents were not wearing seat belts,” said TK Malhotra, president, Automobile Association of Upper India.
Experts suggest that the government should also step in and make some norms for people intending to drive such vehicles. “The way the transport department have categorised driver’s license for two-wheelers, light motor vehicles and heavy vehicles, there should be separate license to drive high speed and bikes and cars,” Dhawan said.
Delhi traffic police chief said the motorists should learn to respect the law of the land. “You may have a sophisticated high-speed car but Delhi roads do not allow you to drive beyond 50 to 70 kmph,” joint commissioner of police (traffic) Satyendra Garg said.
