Gurdwara Rakabganj

Burglars once again struck in the high security Delhi area and took away bathroom fittings from a Congress MP’s house. The incident took place at the 38-Gurdwara Rakabganj road residence of Manikrao Gavit, a Congress MP, on Saturday morning when he was out of station.

“He was not in his house at the time of incident. The burglars managed to flee from the spot even after being spotted by a domestic help,” a senior police officer said.

Gavit is MP from Nandurbar Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra. “The domestic help reached the MP’s residence at 8:45am and noticed a person going out. She thought he was one of MP’s relatives. She even addressed him with namaste,” the officer added. It was after the domestic help went inside that she noticed the theft.

Recently, burglars had broken into the house of renowned classical singer Rita Ganguly and decamped with antiques and mementos.

A case of theft has been registered at the Parliament Street police station and further investigations are on.
