The Haryana Police constable, who was arrested a few days ago in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a youth from Ballabgarh, has confessed before the interrogators that he also murdered his colleague, a constable with the Haryana Police, for ransom.

The arrested cop - Tarif Khan - who was on police remand in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Ankit Deshwal, 25, disclosed during the course of interrogation that he had kidnapped and murdered his colleague Devinder, who as posted at Haryana Bhawan in Delhi.

"He made this disclosure about killing his colleague Devinder of Palwal for ransom," said Sudip Kumar, SHO, Ballabgarh.

Khan and his accomplice were arrested on June 1 from the Faridabad-Gurgaon road and were produced before the court, which remanded them to a five-day police custody. The remand was extended by two more days.

On April 6, Deshwal of Trikha colony, Ballabgarh, had mysteriously disappeared and a burnt body was traced to a village of Faridabad the next day.

The kidnappers did not make any ransom call to Deshwal's family after his abduction but preferred to first kill him. The kidnappers then started making ransom calls to Deshwal's father from May 23.

Since neither the family nor the police identified the burnt body, the kidnapping of Deshwal remained a mystery till June 1 only when the cops laid their hands on Khan and his friend.

The Faridabad Police is in the process of recommending action against the accused cop.

"The cop has turned out to be the killer. We are recommending departmental action against him and after which, he is most likely to be dismissed from the service," said Raj Kumar Vaishisht, DCP Ballabgarh.
