A 30-year-old man was murdered when he objected to his wife’s illicit relationship with a relative and his death would have remained a mystery had his desperate killers not made the ridiculous mistake of hiring a cab to dispose of his corpse.

Kushal Pal and Dinesh, cousins from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh, were arrested when a routine check at a police picket revealed that a white bundle resting between them on the rear seat of a hired Hyundai Accent cab was actually a corpse.

“On questioning, the policemen got suspicious and checked the car thoroughly. We were startled to see a dead body wrapped in a bed sheet,” said Ajay Chaudhary, additional CP (southeast).

“Pal was in an illicit relationship with the wife of deceased, Babu Singh. He had objected to the relationship.”

According to the police, Pal hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Babu with his cousin Dinesh and lured Babu to a rented house in south Delhi’s Kotla Murabakpur for a party on Friday evening.

“When Babu got drunk at the party, Pal and Dinesh strangulated him with a handkerchief, wrapped his body in a bed sheet and called a cab,” Chaudhary said. They then kept the bundle on the car’s rear seat and asked the unsuspecting driver to take them to a secluded place where they could dump it.

However, even before they could decide on their destination, they got pulled over at a police picket opposite Maharani Bagh on CV Raman Marg.
