The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has decided to introduce music, painting and physical training lessons at its schools in a big way. The civic body has sent a request to the government asking them to sanction 1,729 teachers to encourage extra curricular activities among students.
“Though we would like more teachers, some MCD schools are very small so one teacher can share the responsibility of a few schools,” said Mahender Nagpal, chairman, education committee.
“We took the decision in view of the fact that poor children cannot pay for extra lessons. We already have a few music and physical trainers but their number is very low,” he added.
