Ramlila Maidan

For the past three days, they had been glued to the television screen, eagerly waiting for Anna Hazare to come out of Tihar Jail. But as soon as it was decided that he would come out of Tihar on Friday, the group of 11 hailing from Hazare’s native village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra reached Delhi ‘s Ramlila Maidan on Friday.

Hazare’s 27-year-old nephew Vijay Hazare was also one of the group members who want to extend support to Hazare’s cause in fighting corruption. “We will continue to protest with Anna Hazare for as many days as possible. We reached around 1.30pm on Friday and will now book a hotel room for our stay. I was there on the stage with my uncle giving him all my support,” said Vijay.

“Since our childhood, he has been the hero of our village. Now he is hero of the whole nation,” he added. “This is one moment we didn’t want to miss. He has made us and the entire nation proud. We will support him in every way,” said Dada Pathare, also from Anna’s native village.
