Court cases against me are a political conspiracy hatched by the Congress and YSR Congress leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu said here on Monday.
A division bench of the Andhra Pradesh high court had last week asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to conduct a preliminary inquiry into alleged disproportionate assets of Naidu.
The court order was based on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Jaganmohan Reddy's mother and former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy's (YSR) widow YS Vijayamma. The CBI and the ED are already investigating a case of disproportionate assets against Jaganmohan Reddy.
Naidu, who is out of power since 2004, also said the cases against him were those rejected by the courts earlier.
"A total of 25 cases were filed by YSR and other Congress leaders between 1999 and 2009. All of them were dismissed by courts, except the one filed on political grounds pending in the AP high court. Several judicial commissions and house committees were set up to settle political scores but the party failed in its machinations," Naidu said.
"Quite curiously, the PIL was filed by Vijayamma after her son met Congress leaders including the Prime Minister in September, wherein he reportedly surrendered before the Congress, stating he would support the party from which he had come out a few months ago. The present case is based on the same charges which were dismissed earlier by courts," Naidu said.
He added his party would move a no-confidence motion against the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the assembly.
