NCP on Tuesday took an apparent dig at Rahul Gandhi’s elevation on Tuesday, saying his appointment as the Congress vice president is a sign that the party was in trouble.
“Whenever a vice-president was appointed, there were problems within Congress,” NCP general secretary DP Tripathi said.
He also said he had nothing against Rahul. “I’m merely drawing your attention to the history of appointment of vice-president. Whenever the vices of presidency began in Congress, a vice president was appointed,” he said. Before Rahul, Arjun Singh and Jitendra Prasada had been the party vice presidents.
