Two days after they recovered the body of a murdered four-year-old boy from a park in Keshavpuram, the police arrested one of his neighbours for the crime on Wednesday.
Mohammad Tanveer (19), a resident of Samastipur in Bihar , had murdered Mohammad Afridi (4) to take revenge from the victim’s father. “It came to light that an altercation had taken place between Tanveer and one of his associates with the victim’s family on October 23,” Meenu Chaudhary, deputy commissioner of police (northwest) said.
“Tanveer was picked up and was subjected to sustained interrogation during which he confessed to the crime. He said Afridi’s father Chand Mohammad had assaulted him and his associate. They wanted to avenge the humiliation by killing his son,” Chaudhary added.
While Tanveer has been arrested, his associate is still absconding. htc
