A 14-year-old girl sustained injuries after she was dragged and physically assaulted allegedly by her inebriated neighbour when she resisted his molestation attempt in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri on Monday night.

The accused, identified as Vinod, is untraceable ever since the matter was brought to the notice of the police. The family of the victim have alleged that Vinod’s family have been pressuring and threatening them to not pursue the case further.

The victim, a police officer said, was in the kitchen after serving dinner to her family members, who were in the courtyard when Vinod entered her house from the rear gate. He began molesting her and when she resisted, he dragged her to his house.

“Vinod repeated the molestation attempt at his house and when the girl tried to raise an alarm, he physically assaulted her. Hearing her scream, the girl’s family members went to Vinod’s house and rescued her. The girl was in trauma after being punched and kicked in her abdomen,” said the officer, quoting the complaint lodged by the victim’s father.
