One more person died of the H1N1 swine flu virus in the Capital, taking the total number of deaths due to the viral infection in Delhi to five.

A 27-year-old man, undergoing treatment at New Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, is the fourth swine flu victim this month so far.

He was brought to the hospital in a critical condition with severe lung infection earlier this month and had tested positive for the infection last week. He died of multi-organ failure on Wednesday afternoon.

According to official data, 37 new cases of swine flu were reported in the city on Thursday.

This takes the total number of infected persons so far to 243.

Of these, Safdarjung Hospital reported seven positive cases, six cases at Guru Tegh Bahadur, Madan Mohan Malviya and Deen Dayal Upadhyay reported three each, two at RML and Lok Nayak has reported one swine flu case.

Besides, 15 cases have been reported positive by various designated laboratories across the city.

Though Delhi health minister AK Walia confirmed the spread of virus, he claimed there was nothing to worry as it was just like another seasonal viral infection.

“There is absolutely nothing to worry and we have issued advisory to our hospitals and labs to stay prepared,” he said.
