The Delhi Police have arrested two persons, including a Nigerian national, with 11 grams of cocaine and 4kg heroin in two separate operations.
In the first incident, the crime branch arrested Lala Ram, 45, of Bareilly in UP, with 4kg of heroin. He entered the world of drug-peddling due to the debt he incurred in his daughters’ weddings.
“Lala Ram was caught outside the Paschim Vihar District Park in Peeragarhi on Tuesday, while he was waiting to hand over the consignment of heroin to a customer,” said DCP (crime) Ashok Chand.
Police said Ram took to the drug trade after the marriage of his two daughters in 2010. He used to procure raw opium and morphine from Murshidabad. They were processed into heroin Bareilly.
In another incident, 32-year-old Chuna Bensin, a Nigerian national, was arrested from south Delhi’s Sultanpur with 11 grams of cocaine worth around Rs 25 lakh, police said.
DCP (south) Chhaya Sharma said Bensin was apprehended from Parkarti Marg near the Sultanpur Metro Station on Monday.
“He had come to India two months ago on a business visa and was staying in Vasant Kunj. He dealt in the export of ready-made garments, shoes and other accessories from Delhi to Lagos, Nigeria. He is a graduate from Canon University, Nigeria,” Sharma said.
