Two fires, including a major one at a chemical product storage facility located in outer Delhi's Pehladpur Bangar area, broke-out on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
The blaze at the chemical godown, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained, occurred at 3.10pm and at least 30 fire tenders were dispatched to douse it. At the end of a five-hour fire-fighting operation, fire officials claimed no casualties were reported.
"The facility is spread over 1,000 square yards and serves as a storage-cum-decanting area. It is under control and has been contained," said AK Sharma, director, Delhi Fire Services (DFS).
The second fire incident was reported from an apparel showroom located in south Delhi's bustling South Extension Part 2 at 12.10pm. According to DFS officials, the incident occurred when a motorcycle parked adjacent to the retail showroom caught fire.
"Other two-wheelers parked adjacent to the blazing vehicle also caught fire before it spread to a fuel-run electricity generator connected to the apparel showroom in the D6 block. The fire quickly spread and engulfed the ground, first and second floors of the showroom," said a senior DFS official.
DFS officials said four fire tenders were rushed to the spot who managed to douse the inferno in about half-an-hour.
