No voter id, no problem: How to find your booth, what to carry to vote in MCD elections
MCD polls: Delhi is voting to elect councillors in 272 wards on Sunday.
The polling booths have opened and voting has begun across Delhi’s (Delhi section link) three municipal corporations as the city chooses its new civic councillors.
If you are among those who haven’t voted so far – the L-G Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal both have – and are confused about where to vote and what to carry with you here’s what you need to know:
No Voter Card, No Problem
If you don’t have a voter identity card, you can carry a valid photo identity card such as Aadhar, passport, driving licence, or an employee card if you work in the public sector.
Find your polling station
Just type MCD space Voter ID on your mobile phone and text it to 7738299899. You can also call 011-2394741 -46.
Candidates, NOTA
There are a total of 2,537 candidates across 272 wards from 18 recognised political parties, apart from independents. For the first time, the NOTA (none of the above) option will also be available in the MCD elections. Click here to know more about your candidates.
Timings
Voting began at 8 am. The booths will close at 5:30 pm.
