There will be no water supply in Vasant Kunj, Munirka, JNU, Mehrauli, IIT, Green Park, Safdarjung Enclave in south Delhi and D block Janakpuri and Sagarpur in west Delhi on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
Water supply will be affected due to major repair work in the pipeline feeding the Deer Park reservoir, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said. Also, due to the annual flushing of the Talkatora underground reservoir and booster pumping station, water supply will be available at low pressure on Monday and Tuesday at North Avenue MP flats, Central Secretariat, Ashoka Road, India Gate, Sunder Nagar, Connaught Place, Gole market, DIZ area, RML Hospital, Janpath and Lodhi Road, the DJB said.
Similarly, water supply will be available at low pressure on Monday and Tuesday in C block East of Kailash, Mohan Garden, Uttam Nagar and Sultanpuri, the DJB added.
Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit laid the foundation stone of a scheme to upgrade water supply to Mehrauli area on Sunday. The scheme will be implemented at a cost of Rs 145.60 crore approximately.
The work includes the construction of five underground reservoirs and their pumping stations with a total storage capacity of 18,290 million litres along with the replacement of old pipes of 33,000 metres.
“The new network will have about 35,000 water connections fixed with quality water metres,” the DJB said.
Dikshit asked the people to conserve and make rational use of all natural resources, including water.
She also called upon people to get metres installed for their water connections at the earliest.
Dr Yoganand Shashtri, Delhi assembly speaker, elected representatives from the area and Ramesh Negi, DJB CEO were present on the occasion.
