After a drive against eve-teasers in the Metro, Gurgaon Police turned the heat on male passengers on local trains running between Delhi and Gurgaon. On Monday, the police caught two men travelling in women’s coaches in a Rewari-Delhi passenger train.
"After Metro, we started the drive as a preventive measure. The male passengers who have been caught were challaned by the Railway Protection Force. We are also counselling the offenders," said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (west), Gurgaon.
The drive at Gurgaon railway station was started at 5pm and will continue for the next few days. Currently, the police are concentrating on the Delhi-Gurgaon passenger trains.
“A lot of passengers still use rail service to go to Delhi, and the last coach in the train is reserved for women. Due to lack of checking, male passengers tends to enter the reserved coach and started eve-teasing,” said a senior police officer.
Last week, Gurgaon Police had carried out a drive at five Metro stations of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. During the drive, women constable were placed at the Metro stations in Gurgaon, to take male passengers out of women’s coach.
The drive witnessed a lot of drama as the female passengers started beating male passengers and to punish, asked them to do sit-ups.
