An NRI woman was attacked by two motorcycle-borne men who snatched her gold chain at Shakarpur in East Delhi on Saturday evening.

The incident happened when the woman was on her way back to her sister’s house.

The woman, a resident of United States of America, had come to Delhi to meet her sister Nisha Wali and had arrived in India a few days ago, the police said.

The woman, Priyadarshini Kaul, was going towards her sister’s house in a rickshaw when motorcycle borne assailants snatched her chain.

The police said that the rickshaw had entered the residential area when the snatchers attacked.

The guard posted at the gates saw the commotion and tried to chase them but the snatchers managed to escape from the area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) KC Dwivedi said, “The complainant said that the assailants showed her a weapon as well while they were fleeing.” A case of robbery has been lodged at the Shakarpur Police Station.

The victim’s sister is a resident of A-Block Priyadarshini Vihar colony in East Delhi.
