The Organising Committee (OC) has sought the help of Ministry of Sports to decide about the fate of sports equipment, kitchen appliances, computers, television sets and aerostat that were purchased during the Commonwealth Games.

On Friday, the OC convened a meeting with the ministry where it was decided that they would be auctioning and floating tenders for kitchen equipment and the aerostat. They are also approaching government agencies to purchase the television sets and computers.

"We are hoping to generate some more money by auctioning the equipment. The sports equipment will be handed over to the respective venues," said the official.

The OC only managed to earn R650 crore as revenue from the Games. The Sports Authority of India will take care of the sports equipment.

In another development, the OC told a team of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) that they would not be able to retain the samples of 800-odd items that they had taken on rent for the inspection by the team as it would cost them R40 crore for a month.

The CVC has formed six teams and were inspecting the overlays on Friday.
