Officer’s Family to get Rs 58 Lakh for road mishap

A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded a compensation of over R58 lakh to the family of a Class 1 Central government officer, who was killed in a road accident in September last year.

MACT presiding officer Dinesh Bhatt awarded a compensation of Rs 58.54 lakh to the family of Harendra Nath, who was killed in a road accident on September 1, 2011 while on his way back home from work.

“It is prima facie proved that deceased (Nath) died due to rash and negligent driving of car driver,” the court said. Nath, 54, was working as Class I officer of government of India with DRDO Laser Science and Technology Centre and is survived by wife, two daughters and a minor son.
