NEW DELHI: The police are yet to arrest five attackers who assaulted 51-year-old cab driver, Nooruddin, for refusing to accommodate more than four passengers in his car. A Rawandan woman has been held for the attack.
Kefa, 26, was held after Nooruddin with the help of locals managed to restrain her when she attempted to flee with her five African friends after attacking him. Investigators found she had been illegally staying in India as her visa had expired a few months ago, police sources said.
Investigators established the identities of the five absconding Africans but refused to reveal their nationality.
Senior officers say Kefa had not been cooperating and was deliberately concealing details about the five suspects.
A police officer said the woman was misleading investigators by giving false information. She claimed she did not know any of the five personally and had met them at a party few days back, police said.
“We have certain clues about the five suspects and their whereabouts. They will be caught soon,” said RP Upadhyay, joint commissioner of police (south-eastern range).
