On a day when students across the world were celebrating Teachers’ Day, a Class 10 student of a government school expressed gratitude towards his school teacher by passing sarcastic remarks and slapping her in public.
The boy also threatened to kill the teacher when she told him that she would lodge a police complaint against him.
The incident took place in the afternoon inside the premises of Jose Marti Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in sector-12 in RK Puram.
The RK Puram police have registered a case against the student, who is not a minor, under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
The boy, who is a resident of Ambedkar Basti in south village, has absconding since the incident.
A senior police officer said the incident came to their notice after the victim approached them with a written complaint. In her complaint, the officer said, the victim has written that the incident happened after she asked the boy to give passage to her Maruti Alto car.
"She was trying to reverse her car but was not able to do so as some boys, including the accused student, were standing behind it. When the teacher asked them to give passage, the accused student started passing comment on her. An argument ensued between them and the boy slapped her thrice on the face before disappearing from the spot," the senior officer said, adding that the boy was untraceable till late evening.
