The joy knew no bounds for the residents as the much-awaited Rs 340 crore Badarpur flyover, connecting Faridabad with Delhi, was opened to public on Tuesday.

Only one lane was made functional on the 4.4-km long flyover, and without much fanfare.
There was no official ceremony, only the officials of the construction company — Hindustan Construction Company, were present on the occasion who lifted the barricades and directed the traffic towards the newly constructed flyover.
For the commuters, the congestion at Badarpur normally takes 30 minutes to one hour or more, depending on the traffic. With the help of the new flyover, the distance up to NTPC Chowk near Sarita Vihar can now be covered in three to five minutes.
“The experience was unbelievable. I have been caught in traffic jams for hours in Badar-pur but now it’s a different experience, crossing 4.4 km in just five minutes,” said Pradeep Kapur, a resident of Faridabad who travels to Delhi everyday.
But, commuters from Delhi will have to wait until end of October, or even first week of November to travel to Farid-abad on this elevated stretch.

Surajkund Road closed today
As the shooting championship of the Commonwealth Games began at Dr Karni Singh Shoot-ing Range, the Surajkund-Delhi Road remained closed for traffic on Tuesday. The road will re-main shut on Wednesday too.
The traffic from Charmwood village area, however, was allowed to use an alternative route of Prehladpur Road.
“We are just fulfilling Delhi’s needs and every possible effort is being made to avoid inconve-nience to residents of Farid-abad,” Anil Kumar Rao, Joint Police Commissioner, Farid-abad, said.
