Noida Police on Wednesday said the 10 young men who allegedly raped a 24-year old MBA student on Monday night in the Noida Sector-71 area, committed the crime at gunpoint.

Earlier reports had suggested that the men were armed with cricket bats and stumps.

The police said this after the arrest of another accused, Jagbir Singh alias Little, on Wednesday. Five persons were arrested on Tuesday after the crime was reported late on Monday night.

“The sixth accused, Jagbir Singh, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. He too is a resident of Garhi Chawkhandi. He was arrested from Morna Crossing. We have seized country-made revolvers from the accused. We are certain that they raped the victim at gunpoint. However, a detailed interrogation of the sixth accused is being done. A manhunt has also been launched to arrest the others,” R.N. Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

All the accused have been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

District Government Counsel (Criminal) K.K Singh said, “Five Gang rape accused Pushpendra, Shrikant, Sanjay, Gautam and Toni were brought before CJM A.K. Tripathi's court on Wednesday at 3.30 p.m. The police moved an application for their custody. The CJM told the police that he would first send the accused to judicial custody and only then hear the police application seeking remand of the accused. He sent the accused to 14-day judicial custody and fixed January 9 as the next
date of hearing of the police application.”

A two-member team from the National Commission for Women visited Sector 39 Police Station and inquired about the incident. The police took them to the scene of the crime and also briefed them about the progress in the case.
