With the onset of monsoon in the south, cases of swine flu have resurfaced and as many as 15 deaths have been reported from across the country.
While nine deaths have been reported in the first week of June itself, the month of May saw six deaths due to the virus, according to official figures.
The maximum deaths were reported from Maharashtra and Kerala, the states which received the first monsoon showers in late May. Last year also Maharashtra reported the maximum number of deaths due to the vector-borne disease.
Karnataka was the other state from where deaths were reported.
According to the data, nearly 1.5 lakh people across the country have been tested so far for the viral infection since it surfaced in India last year in the month of May. Out of these, 22.77 per cent cases have been found positive.
