A 21-year-old Delhi University student, who went out with her 22-year-old male friend on Saturday night, was driven to a vacant industrial plot at Site IV and allegedly raped in the vehicle by her friend’s friend.
The victim was with her friend Yogesh Chaudhary in an Indica that she had bought for Rs. 1.2 lakh around two weeks ago. After Chaudhary met her at her residence, the pair drove towards Mohan Nagar, where Chaudhary’s friend Asif Khan got in the car and told them to drop him at Site IV where he had work.
“When we reached the plot, Asif took the car keys and did not come back,” the victim told HT. “I had a fight with Yogesh about why he allowed Asif to take the keys. When Yogesh went in search of Asif, he came back from a different route and raped me inside the car.”
The plot, which is a huge, was previously occupied by a now defunct company. It now has three workshops, including a government-run bus repair workshop, occupying a small area, while the remaining area is unutilised and secluded. Khan, the prime accused, is originally from Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh, and had a welding contract with one of the workshops and visited the area often.
After some senior officials of the workshop informed the police, Chaudhary was arrested while Khan managed to escape in the cover of darkness. The victim’s brother-in-law later filed an FIR at Link Road police station for rape and planned criminal conspiracy against Khan and Chaudhary.
After his arrest, Chaudhary revealed that he had plans to marry the victim and could not gauge Khan’s intentions.
Superintendent of police Shiv Shanker Yadav said Chaudhary “had planned the incident with his friend”.
