Highlight Story

Last year, 1,00,000 students applied for the coveted undergraduate seats at the Delhi University (DU). But after countless hours of nail-biting suspense, only about 35,000 got through the doors of the great varsity. That means a whopping 65,000 were heartbroken for not making it to their dream colleges in DU.

The story will not be different this year because DU’s capacity has remained almost the same, whereas the number of those knocking at its door has been increasing every year.

"We take the load of 45-55 per cent of admissions among all the central universities. But everyone cannot be admitted to the few top colleges," says Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental. “So we must guide students to look beyond the conventional to find career paths."

Hindustan Times brings you this special series to help you do exactly that — look beyond the conventional. Over the next few days, we will give you information on some of the best courses available at the top colleges in cities across the country. These are cities that are known for their vibrant, melting-pot cultures and their colleges are famous as much for their academics as they are for the fun quotient — much like your dream colleges in Delhi.

So if you cannot make it to the final admission lists, don’t be heartbroken. Who knows, the right college and the perfect course could be awaiting you beyond DU.
