An unsuspecting auto-rickshaw driver was robbed of his vehicle by three passengers as he relieved himself on a north Delhi flyover on Monday.

Hakim Miyan had stopped when one of his passengers said he wanted to urinate while they were on the Wazirabad Flyover. The passengers fled with his auto-rickshaw when the 20-year-old driver too stepped out to relieve himself, forgetting to take with him the keys of the rented vehicle.

The incident comes only days after some of Hakim's colleagues murdered a BPO employee.

It was around 6pm that the resident of Bihar's Motihari picked up three passengers from the ITO bus stand. "The trio hired my auto-rickshaw for Majnu Ka Tilla in north Delhi, where we reached in about half an hour. They seemed to be in their mid-20s," Hakim said.

When Hakim slowed down to drop the men at the destination they had mentioned, they asked him to drive on. When the auto-rickshaw reached the flyover, located some kilometres away, the passengers asked Hakim to stop because one of them needed to urinate.

"We were still on the flyover when one of the passengers said he needed to urinate. I pulled over and parked the auto on the left," he said.

Then, another of the men decided to join the first and, before he knew it, Hakim was urinating next to the two men. "As the two men finished and started walking back to the auto, I heard the auto's engine revving up and the passenger, who had asked me to stop in the first place, behind the wheel. I turned back in a hurry, almost wetting myself in the process, and saw them drive off with my auto," Hakim said.
