A sealing drive may soon haunt the city with the east corporation sending notices to 6,000 commercial establishments that have not paid conversion charges to the corporation.
The north and south corporation will start sending notices towards the last week of August.
At least five lakh property owners all over Delhi have not been paying conversion and regularisation charges under the short-staffed Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
Those who fail to pay will have to watch their properties get sealed.
"The commercial establishments have been told to pay up or face action," said a senior official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
The corporation will start its crackdown after the police agree to give them force to aid in the operation.
"The sealing will begin after August 15 because right now the police is busy with the Independence Day security arrangements," the official added.
The conversion charges are to be paid to the civic bodies for setting up commercial establishments in areas marked for residential purpose.
The Masterplan of Delhi 2021 permits certain commercial, professional or other activities in residential properties of some categories.
