Fed up with the chaos that cripples the Capital after every rain, residents — armed with video clips and photographs of water-logged streets and jams — have knocked on the doors of the High Court, seeking action against civic agencies.

Two members of South Extension-I Residents Welfare Association (RWA) on Wednesday went to the court of acting Chief Justice BD Ahmed, who is already monitoring the issue, and showed him photographs and video clips of the mess created after just two hours of rain on Tuesday.

“Municipal corporations file false affidavit in court stating they have done enough to contain water logging like completion of de-silting of drains. We wanted to show the real picture to the court,” RWA joint secretary Manjeet Singh Chugh.

The bench asked Chugh to file a proper application and submit the video clip and assured that the issue will be taken up for hearing on Thursday.

On Tuesday, heavy rain spoiled Raksha Bandhan celebrations for many as commuting became a nightmare.

On August 8, the court had directed civic agencies to take strict action against responsible officers and to hold them accountable for inaction in solving the problem of waterlogged roads in the Capital.
