PIL filed in SC seeking CBI probe & removal of Kalmadi

delhi Updated: Aug 20, 2010 21:59 IST

A PIL was on Friday filed in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI inquiry into alleged corruption in the management of the Commonwealth Games and removal of its Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi.

The petition, moved by a lawyer, alleged a "corrupt man" was heading the affairs of the Commonwealth Games and the Centre was reluctant to remove him. Kalmadi has consistently denied the charge against him.

Advocate Ajay Agrawal sought the apex court's intervention to save 'national pride' and ensure successful holding of the Games.
