Delhiites woke up to an overcast sky and cold breeze on Sunday morning and the weather is expected to remain the same for the coming two days. Expect rain on Monday night and on Tuesday.
"We attribute this pleasant weather to a western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. Its effects will be felt till Tuesday. There will be a dust storm on Monday, while Tuesday will see thunder showers," said an India Meteorological Department official.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32 degrees, four degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 20 degrees, which is normal for this time of the year.
"The weather has been bearable till now and we have not had to switch on our air conditioners. Last year, April was unbearably hot in the first week itself," said Mahesh Mongia, a businessman, who lives in Rajinder Nagar.
The pattern of a warm morning and a cooler day is set to continue for a few more days.
"The cloud cover will lead to a warmer morning. But the afternoon is expected to be cooler," the official added.
The maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday are predicted to be around 34 and 22 degrees Celsius.
