Four days after they waylaid, abducted and assaulted a 24-year-old pub assistant near Ghitorni metro station in Gurgaon, the third accused from the drunken gang of five was arrested from near Faridabad’s Tigaon Village during a midnight raid, police said on Thursday.
Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south) said Ravish Nagar, 22, who had been hiding in a friend’s house was nabbed by a specially constituted team in a surprise raid.
Nagar’s interrogation has revealed that he and his associates were ‘habitual eve-teasers’ and had been arrested for misbehaving with a woman at a south Delhi bar barely two weeks before they, on a mere whim, abducted the victim from a mall in Gurgaon.
“A first-year student of BBA in Faridabad’s prestigious DAV College, Nagar was nabbed around 3am on Thursday. His interrogation has revealed that Ravish and Kartar, the main accused in this case had, on July 6, created a scene at Tonic bar in Hauz Khas too,” DCP Sharma said.
According to police, on the night of July 6, Ravish, Kartar and three of their friends had gone to the Tonic bar in a black Scorpio car. There, they had decided to ‘have fun’ with a young woman and one of them hurled a lemon peal at her.
Enraged, the woman objected to their behaviour and got into a heated altercation with them. After some time, when they left the bar, the five realised that they had been insulted. So they returned to the bar to teach that woman a lesson and ended up slapping her, police said.
“The victim had filed a complaint in this regard. Following this, Kartar, Ravish Nagar and three of their friends were arrested, though they were later released on bail,” Sharma said.
On July 23, a drunken gang of five men from Faridabad had gathered to celebrate the purchase of a new Scorpio vehicle which one of them, identified as Kartar, had bought.
They had consumed liquor proceeded towards the mall where they had an altercation with the pub assistant after which they abducted her.
