Delhi Police have arrested four car thieves, including a minor, who had stolen a car with red beacon and had used it to carry out a robbery in the Lodhi road area. According to police, the gang members used to target luxury vehicles to impress their girlfriends.
"During interrogation, one of the accused, Shashank, whose father is a captain in the Navy, revealed that a week ago he used a stolen Honda Tucson car with beacon lights. Through it, he was easily entered the government flats of Lodhi colony by introducing himself as a VIP. There he ransacked a locked flat," AK Ojha, DCP (southwest) said. The accused have been identified as Shashank Singh, Monty Sharma and Lucky Prabhakar. A minor has been apprehended too.
"They were good friends and resident of same locality. They have many girlfriends and to buy gifts for them and to live a lavish life, they took to crime. They had a master key and would commit crimes during the day," Ojha added. The gang used to target luxury cars parked in residential or market areas of Dwarka, Naraina, and Gurgaon. "Five luxury cars, two motorcycles and valuables stolen from Lodhi road flat have been recovered," the DCP said.
Both Shashank and Monty are school drop-outs. The thieves were arrested on a tip-off when they were going in Hyundai Tucson car with beacon light. When they were stopped for checking, they argued with the police team claiming they are relatives of a VIP. When the team insisted, they tried to flee, but the police managed to catch them.
