A senior lawyer of Punjab and Haryana high court was arrested from his Faridabad residence late on Friday evening, police said.
Om Prakash Sharma, senior lawyer and vice-chairman of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court, was wanted in four cases registered against him between 2000 and 2006 in Central and NIT police stations.
Sharma was earlier declared a proclaimed offender.
“We have arrested him last evening from his residence in Faridabad,” said acting deputy commissioner of police(Central) Raj Kumar Vaishisht.
Sharma, a resident of Sector 9 in Faridabad, is one of the accused in a firing incident in 2006 on the court premises of Faridabad in which one person was injured.
“He was produced before a court on Saturday, which remanded him to one-day police custody,” Vaishisht said, adding, that the accused will be produced before a court again on Sunday.
On Saturday, the police made unprecedented security arrangements in the court premises when the lawyer was produced before the court as a precautionary measure.
