The East Delhi Police said they have arrested two men and rescued a 21-year old youth, who was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 2 crore last week.
The police on Monday arrested accused Sudhir Yadav and his relative and accomplice Sameer Yadav from Shikohabad in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, on the basis of intelligence inputs on Sunday, the police said.
K.C. Dwivedi, Additional Commissioner of Police (East) said, "Sudhir, who runs a dairy shop in Radhey Puri, was earlier an employee at the dairy shop of the victim's father Darshan Lal. The victim Praveen Sharma, a resident of Jagat Puri, had gone missing after he had left his home to attend classes at a coaching centre in Laxmi Nagar on Friday last week."
A case of kidnapping was later registered after the youth's family received a ransom call for payment of Rs 2 crore for Praveen's safe release.
Police said Sudhir had kidnapped Sharma's son as his business was not running well and Sharma's dairy was well established in that locality. Before opening his own dairy shop, Sudhir had worked for five years at Sharma's dairy shop.
"Hatching a plan to kidnap Praveen over business rivalry, Sudhir took Praveen for a ride in his car and intoxicated him. He then took the victim to Shikohabad with the help of
his associate and relative Sameer and kept him at one of his relative's house," added Dwivedi.
