Police on Saturday arrested the 23-year-old woman who killed her 11-month-old infant boy by throwing him off from the first floor of her house. The accused, Pooja Sharma, in a fit of rage fuelled by an altercation with her mother-in-law over some petty issue, threw her baby from the first floor on Friday.
Pooja was arrested on Saturday after her husband, Rahul Sharma, lodged an FIR at Sahibabad police station. She had been booked under section 304 of the IPC by the police.
"Preliminary investigations have revealed that Pooja had indeed caused the death of her baby. But she has denied the charges and claims that the baby slipped out of her hand," circle officer (CO) AK Yadav said.
Pooja and her mother-in-law, Chandra Kala Sharma, allegedly had a tiff over preparation of food on Friday afternoon. Miffed over the comments by her mother-in-law, Pooja went upstairs and threw the baby out of the window. The infant hit the floor and was declared brought dead by doctors at a local hospital.
Pooja went absconding after the incident and was later nabbed from the house of her uncle at Sahibabad.
