The list of witnesses in the Soumya Vishwanathan murder case seems to be getting longer by the day.
Two more people have now joined in the investigation, claiming to have seen something related to the murder.
The Delhi Police on their part are keeping the identities of the people a secret in the hope of getting vital information.
“We have been voluntarily approached by two people who might give us vital clues which will help us in solving the murder. We cannot disclose their identity as of now as this might hamper the case,” said a senior police officer.
One witness approached the police this morning and the other approached them in the evening. Till now seven people have contacted the police.
On Saturday, two people had approached the police.
A bouncer at a five-star hotel had told the police that he had witnessed a case of road rage at the same spot on Nelson Mandela Road around 3:30 a.m. a day before Vishwanathan was murdered.
A 55-year old taxi driver who was stopped by the janitor, who was the first one to reach the spot, had also approached the police. He had, however, given the same account of the incident to the police as the janitor.
The police are banking on the two new witnesses who approached them on Sunday. Senior police officers said the two might give important leads in the case.
It has been six days since the murder of the television journalist. Till now the police have made no progress in the case.
They had earlier questioned Soumya Vishwanathan’s family members.
Meanwhile, the police are yet to receive forensic report of the car. According to them, the report might also help them come to a conclusion in the case.
DCP South HGS Dhaliwal had earlier said, “We are resting on the accounts of eyewitnesses. We want people to come forward and help us."
