The police rescued a 14-year-old kidnapped girl from south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri area on Tuesday night. Her 21-year-old kidnapper has also been arrested, police said.

“The kidnapper, Mohammed Idris from Bihar’s Madhubani area was about to leave with the girl for Punjab. He claims that he is in love with the girl,” said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (south).

The parents of the girl had filed a complaint about Idris having kidnapped their daughter. The girl is a student of Class V in a government primary school. Investigations revealed that Idris had been loitering around the school to try and talk to the girl. Moreover, he had been following her for the past few days.

“On Tuesday morning, he had cut his wrist in true Bollywood style to show how much he loved her. He then lured from her school to his hideout to take her to to Punjab by bus,” Dhaliwal said. He had allegedly told the girl that he would kill himself if she didn’t come with him.
