A head constable of Delhi Police was attacked with baseball bats by unidentified assailants in northeast Delhi and his service revolver has gone missing, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred at 12.15 a.m. Friday when the victim, Omkar Singh, was patrolling in B1 block of Nand Nagri, a police official said.

A passer-by informed the police and Singh was then taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital from where he was referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

The official said that Singh's service revolver was also not to be found on him.

Singh has been deputed at the Nand Nagri police station for the past two years.

A few suspects have been detained for questioning, but no arrests have been made, the official added.
