Poll | Kejriwal sacks minister live on TV: Precedent or stunt?
In a dramatic move, Delhi chief minsiter Arvind Kejriwal on Friday sacked, during a press conference, his food and supplies minister Asim Ahmad Khan over alleged corruption charges.
Kejriwal played out a sting operation tape in which Khan’s purported voice was heard discussing a property deal.
“We’ve received a serious complaint of corruption against our cabinet minister Asim Ahmed. The complainant has sent us a one-hour audio clip,” Kejriwal said, as the visuals of the press conference were beamed live on TV.
“We will not spare anyone be it Minister, MLA or officer. Just give us evidence and we will remove the culprit the moment such charges are brought to our notice,” the chief minister, accompanied by his deputy Manish Sisodia, said.
