“It is very scary” (The mandate given by the people of Delhi to AAP). Those were the precise words that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal used as he addressed volunteers for the first time after the party’s landslide poll victory.

Kejriwal, referring to the spectacular mandate given to party by the people, said “deep within he was scared”.

“The result is spectacular so I want to salute the people of Delhi. But our volunteers have worked day and night. Some of them have left their jobs, some have closed their shops down and dedicated 24 hours a day for the party’s cause. This is the victory of the volunteers. But deep inside I am feeling scared,” said Kejriwal from the second floor balcony of his decorated Patel Nagar party office.

Interrupted by the volunteers and their loud cheers, he paused in his speech before continuing: “It is very scary! Delhi’s public has given us a huge majority. I just want to request all the volunteers, MLA’s and the party to not show arrogance.”

Leaving no chance to hit out at the Congress and BJP, the AAP CM designate added, “What happened to Congress is because of their arrogance and what happened to the BJP is also because of their arrogance. If we also show arrogance, then after 5 years people will also show us the same thing.”

Thanking the volunteers, he also asked the people to support him in transforming Delhi into a city that will make both the rich and the poor happy.

Kejriwal also took the opportunity to thank his father and his wife besides the other AAP leaders.

As he introduced his wife, the crowd burst into cheers: “She is my wife Sunita, she never comes forward because she works with the government. She is scared that the government might take action against her. But today I forcefully dragged her and brought her here,” he said.

Z+ security
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, who is set to become Delhi’s chief minister for the second consecutive time, has been accorded Z+ security - the highest level of security that a civilian can get.

Kejriwal will take oath as Delhi’s CM at Ramlila Maidan on February 14. On Tuesday, the Delhi police had reinstated Z category security cover for Kejriwal and claimed that they were mulling over options to upgrade his existing security cover from Z to Z+ category, which comprises around 50 security personnel.
